My name is Robert Ford. As a former Dallas Cowboys Coach who coached on 3 Super Bowl Teams, I am equipt to deal with obstacles and adversity, but what my wife has been dealing with the past 17 years has overwhelmed our family.
In 1999, we left Dallas to join Jimmy Johnson at the Miami Dolphins. Not soon after, my wife, Janice, was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and Piriformis Syndrome which encloses the sciatic nerve.
For the next 18 weeks, she underwent extensive blood work, two x-rays per week and multiple other tests ans scans. Following testing, Janice underwent 4 surgeries to help cure her of this awful condition and in 2002, we thought the RA was in remission.
After three major moves, Janice's RA returned and this time worse than we could've ever imagined. Every system in her body started malfunctioning: eye sight, blood, hypertension, loss of hair, symptons of cancer in the joints, feet, hands and stomach.
The worst came in 2012 when she developed adult onset Type 2 Diabetes despite not being over weight nor in the typical age range. Since then she has gone through five major back surgeries to remove cycsts growing on her spinal cord. This September she will undergo her sixth surgery to remove a large cyst that has ruptored two of her vertebrae.
Through all of this, my wife has gone through this with a smile on her face and is a true inspiration to me. She is a walking example of what it means to meet adversity and walk through it with grace and dignity. I have always prided myself on my hard work and taking care of our family, but the mental stress and the financial burton has been astronomical. I humbly ask that you donate anything you can in order to help my family through this difficult time. I know through your help, love, support and by the Grace of God, we will get through this.
Thank you for your consideration,
Robert Ford
