Help Jaxson Bauer Walk: Support for Trexo Trainer
Donation protected
Hi everyone! After hearing the suggestion from many friends and family, we have decided to start a GoFundMe for our 4 year old son, Jaxson Bauer. For those who know Jaxson, you know what a happy, smiley, smart and driven boy he is. Unfortunately, he was born with a genetic condition called Myotonic Dystrophy. Myotonic Dystrophy is one of the 9 forms of muscular dystrophy and is considered a rare disease. It primarily affects his muscles.
Jaxson has severe weakness in his legs; therefore he is unable to stand or walk on his own. Couple that with the inability to talk and scoliosis, this kid wasn’t dealt the best hand. He doesn’t let any of his disabilities affect his will to work hard and get stronger. He has started to try to stand on his own while holding onto something, he just isn’t strong enough. As many know, health insurance makes it so difficult to get funding for equipment at home to help assist in giving Jaxson the best quality of life.
We currently have spent a year trying to get a stander for home. We’ve been denied 4 different times even after conversations with the insurance’s doctor and appealing with the necessary information they asked for, so Robert and I are taking it in our own hands with the help of you all. We were able to trial a Trexo robotic gait trainer today for Jaxson. It was an emotional thing for us because it was the first time we’ve seen him fully upright and walking. A video will be posted for you all to see. Seeing this after almost 5 years was amazing.
This equipment will not be approved or covered through health insurance but we think it will give him the best quality of life and the ability to walk. The cost of this equipment is $45,000. We are grateful for the support and for everyone’s love of our little man Jaxson.
