In Memory of Jennifer Hodson

On October 1st, my mother-in-law, Jennifer Hodson unexpectedly passed away just weeks after turning 50. She leaves behind ten children, four grandchildren, her husband Mark of more than 20 years, close siblings, and many other family members. She often coined her own legacy of #mamas10 because of her amazing children. 

She had an infectious laugh, tenacity, wit, and was the most generous and courageous woman. For years, Jennifer made choice after choice to keep the children in her family safe, happy, and loved. And I know they all felt that love and understood that sacrifice. She consistently put the needs of others ahead of her own. Simply, she was a mother to everyone.

Just a month ago, her husband Mark was in the hospital for weeks with a life threatening infection. Up until her death, she was his copilot going to appointment after appointment with him. Many of Mark’s medical bills aren’t covered by insurance and he has to make the trip of about 60+ miles one-way to Santa Rosa for every medical visit. Unfortunately, he now bears the very unexpected financial costs of her funeral service, cremation, urn, etc.

Now it’s our turn to provide for the woman who provided for everyone else. Funds from this fundraiser will go directly to Mark for Jen’s end-of-life fees and other funeral expenses.

The Hodson clan will sorely miss Jen’s company forever. We hope she is up above, making gumbo with grandma, hanging out with the family dog Jake. Rest easy and peacefully, until we meet again.
