Jerome - Kidney-Pancreas Transplant, Medical Costs

Greetings to all of my family and friends. As many of you may be aware, I have been overcoming diabetes, and kidney failure for several years now; as well as blindness. I have been receiving kidney dialysis treatments for over a year. I have been listed at MUSC Transplant Center for a kidney and pancreas transplant for nearly 2 years. On the 24 hour transplant list, I can be called to be transplanted at a moment’s notice. At that point, I will need to be in surgery for 4 to 5 hours. As well, my wife of 30 years - Carla, is my designated caregiver who must remain with me in Charleston for a projected 4-8 week recovery period. I am not in a financial position to pay the remaining out-of-pocket cost of the operation; nor am I able to afford the out-of-pocket expense of medications needed. Until then, we have sought out alternative medical treatments that have been beneficial to me in maintaining my health. My first request from my family and friends is for your prayers, and encouragement in faith that I may continue to walk out my total healing – Psalm 107:20. The next step Carla and I are taking is to set up a fund account by which donations can be made towards these expenses. I am asking for whatever help that you can afford to give. The initial $10,000 goal is based upon my current medical expenses and projected costs expected through recovery; which is a small fraction of my total out-of-pocket medical expenses to date.
