My sister Jill McLellan is the strongest, smartest and funniest woman I've ever known. She and her longtime love Gary Powell have spent 20 wonderful years together and have two beautiful Children. Jake is 3 and Sydney, she's 5.
I never saw such joy in my sister's eyes until she was blessed with her children. I had never seen her smile so bright - not before motherhood. Jill's world became her family. Dress Up, and cookies, and tea parties, fingerpainting and play dates..."What shall we do today? Let's make a mess, let's jump in puddles, lets bake something yummy!" No matter what it was, it was always something new and exciting...
Last summer Gary & Jill packed up the family and left Toronto to raise their children in the small picturesque town of Port Elgin. Ontario.
Gary started a brand new job, and Jill left hers in order become the kind of homemaker that would make Martha Stewart proud. She also found time to paint, teach acting classes at the community centre, direct plays at the local theatre, and become involved with the local Sunday School. Within a few months, Jill became a pillar in her communtity.
Last week, at the age of 44 my beautiful sister Jill, was given a devistating diagnosis of Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, and today she was told it has spread to the liver, lungs and lymph nodes.
Prognosis is a 2% survival rate within the first year.
Jill is levelheaded and practical and wholeheartedly vows to beat the odds. Jill's Miracle.
Jill is the strongest woman I know, and she plans to fight this with everything she's got. Chemo starts in days.
Gary must take time off his new job, in order to drive her to and from treatments, and both Grandma's who are 75, are doing their best to help care for their very young and energetic Grandbabies.
Nobody can be prepared for news such as this. Jill and Gary are not at all in a financial position to fight for her Miracle while at the same time handling everything else financially. Given the new job, and lack of other benefits, they have been put in a very tight position.
It is my sincere hope that we can raise funds to help alleviate the financial stress that they will obviously be facing in the coming months.
Please help Jill and Gary and their beautiful children during this trying time. This means the world to us.
