As a mother of a 3-year-old, I know there is no greater tragedy than the loss of a child. At a time when the Medina-Gutierrez family should be celebrating one of the happiest occasions that parents can experience, they instead mourn the loss of little Baby Kayla, just six days after she was brought into this world.
This beautiful baby girl fought valiantly for survival as her mother endured long hours of labor on October 22nd only to find herself abruptly being prepped for an emergency C-section. Following the birth, instead of holding her healthy baby girl in her arms, her mother watched as Baby Kayla was whisked away by doctors as she struggled for every breath. Hours later she was transferred to another hospital better equipped to handle the complications the tiny little girl was enduring. The coming days were filled with yet another hospital and more tubes and needles piercing her tiny body and a machine to help Baby Kayla breathe.
On October 26, Baby Kayla's struggle ended. Embraced by her parents, who were holding their daughter for the first time, she was taken off life support. Surrounded by family, friends and loved ones, Baby Kayla took her last breaths and her parents said goodbye to their first and only child, far too soon.
We ask for your thoughts and prayers for Baby Kayla's family as we try to help them through this difficult time. All donations raised will go toward the medical costs and funeral expenses incurred by this tragic loss. Please help us show Baby Kayla's parents they are not alone in their grief.

Como madre de una de 3 años de edad, ya sé que no hay mayor tragedia que la pérdida de un hijo. En momentos en que la familia Medina-Gutiérrez debería estar celebrando una de las ocasiones más felices que los padres pueden experimentar, en su lugar lloran la pérdida de su pequeña bebé Kayla, sólo seis días después de que ella fue traída a este mundo.
Esta hermosa niña luchó valientemente por la supervivencia mientras su madre soportó largas horas de trabajo infantil el 22 de Octubre sólo para encontrarse de pronto siendo preparado para una cesárea de emergencia.
Tras el nacimiento, en lugar de celebración de su niña sana en sus brazos, su madre vio como bebé Kayla era llevada por los médicos mientras Kayla luchaba por respirar. Horas más tarde fue trasladada a otro hospital mejor equipado para manejar las complicaciones de la pequeña niña que estaba soportando. Los próximos días se llevaron a la bebe a otro hospital y más tubos y agujas penetraban su pequeño cuerpo y una máquina para ayudar a bebé Kayla respirar.
El 26 de Octubre, la lucha de bebé Kayla terminó. Abrazado por sus padres, que tenían a su hija por primera vez, ella fue retirada del soporte vital. Rodeada de su familia y seres queridos, Baby Kayla tomó sus últimos suspiros y sus padres se despidió de su primer y única hija, demasiado pronto.
