Many of you know our sister Joanna and know what a beautiful and loving person she is. She has a great personality and a contagious smile that can light up a room. She also has an amazing group of friends and family that love and care for her immensely.
Over the past year and a half she has been rehabilitating from multiple hip surgeries, which have been unsuccessful. Her quality of life has changed dramatically. Although, she might look as though she feels fine, she suffers with pain every day. She's gone for several opinions from specialist in numerous hospitals, but these doctors have a minimal amount of knowledge/ experience of her rare bone disorder called Osteopetrosis.
A glimmer of hope came when she recently met with a surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He told her that she needed a total hip replacement, which involves many risks and a lengthy recovery. This surgery is the best chance for Joanna to be pain free and back to herself again.
There will be numerous medical, travel and rehabilitation expenses that are not covered by insurance. We have set up this online fundraiser in hopes that we can raise money to help alleviate some of Joanna's financial burden so she can focus on her recovery and wellness.
