Joey's Journey

Donation protected
It was just another Thursday morning like any other Thursday morning. There was no way for any of us to know that in just a split second all of our lives would never be the same again.
Joey left for school just like he did every other day with his beautiful and full of life cousin, Jasmine Schneider.
Only a mile away from home and just a minute or two from everyone who loved them so dearly, they were in a horrific car wreck. An accident that would change all of our lives forever.
An accident that took the life of my beautiful niece, Jasmine and that has my precious baby boy fighting for his life with each breathe he takes.
Joey was rushed to Saint John's hospital Thursday morning by ambulance. With multiple injuries some of which were life threatening.
Joey's injuries upon arriving at the hospital included both legs broke in three different places, a broken ankle, internal bleeding in his abdomen, his right lung severely bruised and collapsed, multiple cuts, bruises and abrasions.
Joey was taken right away to surgery to explore and repair the injury to his abdomen that was causing his belly to fill with blood.
Joey was born with a blood disorder called Von willbrands disease. When I arrived at the hospital the had already given Joey s tremendous amount of blood. After informing the hospital staff of Joey's blood disorder they were able to give Joey the proper medication to slow his bleeding and help his blood to clot.
After repairing his internal injuries they did a temporary closure on his abdomen.
Metal rods called external fixators were attached to both of his legs to stabilize the broken bones.
Joey has been in a conscious sedation since being admitted to the hospital and has been incubated as well.
This morning the took my son back into surgery to look for anymore injuries in his abdomen. Fortunately and by the grace of God, surgery went great. There were no new injuries. They were able to clean him up and close him up. They also were able to remove the central line in his groin now that had bleeding is under control.
Joey has a long road ahead of him to travel on this journey and prayers are always greatly appreciated.
I will be using this page to update everyone on Joey's Journey. Please be patient I will do my best to keep it updated but this is my baby boy and sometimes I am just not able to or just not emotionally strong enough
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to ask about Joey and our family and for all the prayers. Keep praying they are working for sure. Joey is improving much faster than the Doctors thought he would but he has a long road to recovery ahead of him any amount will help and is greatly appreciated. My family thanks you in advance and God bless
