John Loftus steps up for Clionas

Currently cocooning approaching the 20th anniversary of kidney transplant and having represented Ireland internationally at British European and World Transplant games John Loftus is a man showing no sign of slowing down John throughout his life has been exceptionally generous towards worthy causes and in same vein has always been a man noted for giving back, using his uncanny ability of innovation and reinvention and combining these qualities he came up with a novel idea. John is going to walk the not inconsiderable 100,000 steps in the week starting on Monday 11th May whilst keeping safely within the 2km Radius from his house. Encouraging him along the way will be his wife Trish, daughter Tara and grandson Jack.

He is confident that some of the members of the Mid West Mentoring group will also be signing up with him to complete that same challenge  or other fundraising ideas . “ I  have challenged members of the group to undertake the challenge and already I am delighted that  Michelle O Connor of Employability  Shane Laffan of Novas  Kieran Maher & Rosemarie O Callaghan of M2 Office Interiors , Business Development Consultant PJ Holmes and John O Shanahan of Lean BPI   have committed to hitting the 100,000 steps” said John “ and I expect more to follow"

John  with his team MWM is hoping to raise funds for a charity very close to his heart Clionas Foundation 

Conor O Dwyer of Premier Retail Brokers  kicked off the fundraising with a very successful  Zoom Quiz last weekend 

Cliona's uniquely provide financial support nationwide to families of seriously sick children to help with the non medical costs of caring for their child. These costs can include but are not limited to accommodation, transport, car parking, childcare and specialist equipment .

Cliona's has supported 782 families over the past 13 years including 36 already this year.

 “We know “ said John  “that Cliona’s income has been severely diminished with the cancellation of numerous fundraising events and really need support to help them continue to relieve the financial pressure these families are under. This pressure is even more significant now for these families with reduced household income during this Covid Crisis. 

I just want to do what I can to help Cliona’s continue their great work, which really makes a difference . If  collectively  we can raise enough to help a few families it would be just fantastic“
