John Romano - a friend in need
All,
Many of you know my friend of over 35 years, John Romano. He has been dealing with back issues for the last 2 years. In April, John underwent extensive back surgery to fix 3 blown disks and a fractured vertebra. He had 2 rods and several screws inserted in his back. A few weeks after the surgery, John was once again experiencing excruciating pain. An MRI revealed that not only had he broken his pelvis somehow, but also the screws inserted during his first back surgery had moved. The doctors told John the only option was another complete back surgery. After this second surgery in early June, John literally could not move. He is still experiencing extreme nerve pain and nerve damage. He has been in the hospital for over 4 weeks, and is only now able to take 5 – 10 steps per day. While his progress is slow, he has a great attitude and is looking forward to undergoing rehabilitation soon.
Unfortunately, John was laid off from his job right before his first surgery in April. As a single father of a 13 year old son whom he loves dearly, John is very concerned about the future. His road to recovery will be very long and difficult. In fact, it can take 6 months to over a year with no guarantee of recovery.
I am asking that our friends and family please consider making a donation to help offset the costs of John’s medical expenses, which are currently $20,000 and climbing.
My sincerest thanks,
Tom Bunke
