John Blanchett Recovery Fund

John Blanchett was severely injured on June 28th, after being shot three times while caught in the line of fire during an apparent gang-related incident at a restaurant in Evansville, IN, where he was visiting on business. The bullets broke both of John's hips and his pelvis, shattered his right femur, and caused significant internal damage - primarily to his small intestine and bladder. John is being cared for in the Trauma Center at Saint Mary's Hospital (Evansville, IN) where has already undergone three major surgeries since the shooting, and may be facing more as one of the bullets has yet to be retrieved, due to its proximity to his spinal chord. In the next week or so, John will be transferred to Saint Mary's Rehabilitation Institute for in-patient rehabilitation, where he will begin the arduous process of physical as well as occupational therapy. While he remains positive and is committed to becoming mobile and self-sufficient again, John is currently unable to get out of bed without assistance, and it is all he can do (and sometimes more) to manage fifteen to twenty steps with the aid of a walker and therapist. The cost of the medical care John has received up to now will far exceed the total coverage provided by his insurance, let alone the year(s) of further treatment and therapy which will be required for him to regain a semblance of his former mobility. Needless to say, his ability to generate an income has been severely diminished for the foreseeable future. Your contributions, thoughts, and prayers in support of John's recovery are deeply appreciated.
