Jonathan Krueger, the photo editor of the Kentucky Kernel and a University of Kentucky student, was tragically killed early Friday, April 17, while walking home on East Maxwell Street in Lexington, Ky, in what appears to be a robbery.
Krueger, 22, a UK junior from Perrysburg, Ohio, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Thus, the Kernel Press Inc. has started a fund to memorialize the outstanding life and contributions of Krueger, a talented photographer remembered by the Kernel staff not just for his photos and work ethic, but for his contagiously upbeat personality.
Once $10,000 is raised, an annual endowed scholarship will be awarded by the Kernel Board to a promising Kernel photographer.
