Cobb Family Walk Across America
The Cobb Family 4,000 Mile Walk Across America
Walking from One Magic Kingdom to the Next
Our family of 5, began a 4,000 Mile Disneyland to Disney World Walk Across America on August 6th, 2014. The walk honors our 8 year old daughter, Julia #JuCan Cobb, who passed away on 10.29.13 with a rare form of bone/tissue cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma. We are raising awareness for childhood cancer, the leading cause of death by disease amongh children, and inspiring people with Julia Cobb's mantra, " #JuCan - UCan -GodCAN!"
Inspired by Julia's CAN spirit, "JuCan" (her nickname Ju combined with the first 3 letters in CANcer), our family (Jonathan, Jennifer, Jonathan David, Jenna, Jaxi) has already walked more than 3,600+ miles through 13 states in 300 days.
Since embarking on our journey, we have met with mayors, congressmen, and other government officials to advocate for more funding. Currently, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) only allocates 3.8% of its funding for children's cancer research. In addition, we have met with hundreds of families battling cancer (and other challenges) to encourage them with the "JuCan" message.
Our family took a huge step of FAITH in committing to this cross-country walk, and we do not have major sponsorship or backing that covers our expenses. Please help us complete the journey of awareness from one Magic Kingdom (Disneyland) to the next (Disney World)!
The purpose of this Go Fund Me is to support the expenses associated with our year-long walk (gas for our support vehicle, food, hotels, etc.). 100% of the funds received after expenses will be given to JuCan Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) for pediatric cancer in Houston, Texas. The $413,000 Walk Across America goal honors Julia's favorite scripture (Phillipians 4:13), "I CAN do all things...." and will help to build the "JuCan Castle," a facility in Houston, that will provide housing for families traveling to the Texas Medical Center.
We are walking 4,000 miles to the happiest place on earth, where dreams come true. And if you can dream it, #JuCan do it!
Thanks for helping the dream to come true!
