I hope you are doing well as I write this. I would like to share some important information regarding my mother, Juanita Raines, who has been battling Interstitial Lung Disease for the last two years. She battled COVID-19 in 2020, which left her with debilitating effects.
The truth is that, in September 2023, after overcoming oxygen dependency and returning to work, things took a major turn for the worse. She resumed taking oxygen and was referred to UTSW for a lung transplant evaluation, and the emotional roller coaster began again.
She used to be a vibrant, full-of-life person, but certain changes have occurred because of the side effects of the necessary medication. Her drive to keep working to continue to take care of her patients and add joy to their lives. She is determined to continue even when she does not feel well.
This journey has severely impacted our family's finances. We're under pressure from several doctor appointments, studies, and persistent ups and downs. Because of this, I am reaching out to you.
