Looking at my husband Junior you would not even realize he’s sick. Junior has been battling Chronic Kidney disease for a few years. 
In March 2019 during an ER visit, we were told, Junior is in End-Stage Kidney Failure, with his Kidneys functioning at the time 14%.His kidneys have since declined to 6%  kidney function requiring him to be placed on routine Dialysis three times a week for 3.5 to 4 hours each session. Dialysis as a young active guy is hard. I am so PROUD of my husband! Even in his darkest hour, whether he wanted to or not he did not let this break him. Junior is the epitome of a family man and we will fight together. 

Unfortunately our family members were not a Kidney match & unable to donate to him. It was devastating new but I am forever grateful to those who even offered to donate! Thankfully God provided a kidney donor for him. Amy did not hesitate to offer to donate her kidney to Junior once she found out what was going on. Amy is such a selfless angel and a permanent part of our family now! This second chance at life for him is truly a priceless gift and we thank Amy from the bottom of our hearts. We will never be able to pay her back for her generosity.

Because Junior is getting a kidney from a living donor, it will last twice as long and he’ll have a smaller rate of rejection. Here’s a cool fact, when Junior gets a new kidney, they won't take his old ones out. He’ll have a total of three kidneys in him. Also, they’ll put his new kidney in the front! So no contact sports. 

The transplant surgery itself is covered by our insurance. However, the deductibles, our 20% out of pocket co-insurance, his transplant anti-rejection medications, and his donor Amy's expenses are all additional costs.
Unfortunately, Junior’s employer does not offer short term or long disability to cover some of these expenses while he is out of work for at least three months.
