K STATE'S FINEST - Reginald L. Singletary

Donation protected
Reginald Singletary was born on May 3, 1962 in Tampa Florida.  Reginald known as “Big Reggie” died at the young age of 58 on April 10, 2021.

Reggie grew up in Tampa, FL and attended Brandon High School.   Reggie married his wife Elaine Singletary in 1995 and they raised their children together in Kansas City, Missouri.

Reggie was an elite football player and simply loved the game of football.  Many would say that in his prime, he was a force to be reckoned with.  Reggie played at Cowley County Community College before transferring to Kansas State and playing for football Coach Jim Dickey.  As a K-State Wildcat, Reggie ,#98, earned the following :

1981 Big 8 Newcomer of the Year

1981 All-Big 8 Conference Defensive End

1982 All-Big 8 Conference Defensive End.

1983 All-Big 8 Conference Down Lineman.

Reggie signed with the USFL’s  Michigan Panthers in 1984 and played for the Denver Gold in 1985 when injuries ended his career.

Unfortunately, Reggie was in poor health years before his death and was unable to work and his family cannot afford to give Reggie the burial he had hoped for. Reggie suffered from diabetes, congestive heart failure, and had many concussions over the years from football that caused a long term negative effect on his health and mental health (CTE).  The goal here is to raise funds to have Reggie’s body cremated and to send his wife, Elaine and Reggie’s children to St. Petersburg, FL to spread his ashes at sea near his favorite place to fish.  Please consider making a contribution large or small to help send Reggie back home.

Big Reggie was a wonderful man and loved by all who knew him.  He was charismatic, so colorful, and commanded attention in any room that he entered.  Reggie was a tall and large man lovingly known as a gentle giant.  He was always willing to help out anyone that needed it and would literally give you the shirt off his back.  He had a passion for football, family, and animals.   Anyone who met Reggie- was drawn to him.

Big Reggie was the happiest when he was playing football.  He felt great love for the game and enjoyed his coaches and teammates.  His different teams throughout the years were like his family.  Big Reggie was also a BIG Chiefs fan.  He was happy to see the Chiefs win the Superbowl in 2020.

Reggie married the love of his life Elaine - His partner and soulmate.  As mentioned above, they raised two children together.  They have many happy memories together.  Reggie often earned money recycling pallets and selling them to the local pallet companies. This was a fun game to Reggie and Elaine would sometimes ride along  with him.  If there was a stack of pallets within a mile radius - Big Reggie would find them.

Reggie loved Animals from the time he was a small child.  He was always trying to take care of different animals.  Reggie even raised an alligator in his back yard as a young boy.  He loved the Alligator… when the alligator grew too big he had to return it to the swamp.  Reggie was also an avid fisherman and loved to be close to the water.  In fact, Reggie liked to sit outside and let the water run over his feet and hands.  Perhaps it reminded him of his childhood in Florida -where he felt the most peace and solace.  Again, please consider any size donation to help us get Reggie, '#98' 'K-State Great' 'Gentle Giant' Singletary back to St. Petersburg .  Thank you for reading and thanks for being a friend, Reggie.  You will be missed!
