Kathy Scott ("Scotty")

In early August of 2018, Kathy Scott was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in her right ankle.   Synovial sarcoma is a rare form of soft tissue cancer.   The synovial fluid in her ankle leaked, calcified, and is disintegrating the bones in her foot.  Only about 1 to 3 people in a million are diagnosed with this disease.  It accounts for less than 1% of all cancers.  

Kathy has started chemotherapy treatment that involves a 4-day stay in the hospital and 2 harsh forms of anti-cancer drugs every five weeks for the next three months.   Because of the drugs involved in the chemotherapy, her immune system is compromised, and she is unable to work or be out in public until after she has completed all of the treatments.

Upon completing the chemotherapy, she will travel to Rochester, MN, for scans to ensure the cancer hasn't spread and determine the current size of the tumor.  She will then have surgery to remove her leg below the knee.  Following surgery, she will be at home for a recovery period of 4 -6 weeks.  Kathy will then return to Rochester to be fitted with a prosthetic leg and begin a 4-6 week rehab period.  

Due to her chemotherapy treatment and subsequent medical plan, Kathy will not be able to return to work for at least six months.   The funds raised from this page will help Kathy pay bills and expenses.

Kathy has been a caretaker for friends and family and at work throughout her life; always putting her needs last.  Now it is our turn to help Kathy.
