We have organized this GFM page for Kennan Ormsbee. Saturday night, July 1st, Keno was rushed to South Shore Hospital following a tragic atv accident where he fell off and hit his head. As of right now keenan has not woken up. 1st brain scan showed a skull fracture and multiple brain bleeds in his frontal lobe as well as other parts of his brain. Doctors intubated him (breathing tube) and have him sedated in hopes it will help with the healing process. Update, Sunday, July 2nd, the second brain scan showed a significant increase of swelling in his brain. SSH decided to transport Keenan to the ICU at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston for better treatment. He is currently stable at BWH. When they cut back the sedation meds he showed some positive signs.. reactive pupils, responding to pain and some commands and voices.
Update, monday, July 3rd, the third brain scan showed nothing better but nothing worse either.
Keenan did take a slight turn this afternoon when his heart rate dropped very low and his left eye seemed to be protruding out more than his right. Doctors finally decided to drill a hole into his head so they can insert the instrument to monitor the swelling and bleeding and a line from his head to his heart so they can get medicine to him fast.
Update, tuesday, july 4th.. fourth scan showed the same as the last. Monitor and line are in place. There was more selling than they originally thought so they want stimulation to stay low over the next few days. They will not be lowering sedation to see if he follows commands. Which also means they will not be attempting to remove his breathing tube either.
Update, Wednesday, July 5th.. 5th scan is same as the last. Last night, Keenan was trested for pnemonia and had a fever of 102. This morning, keenans heart rate and blood pressure dropped low. Nurse said it is to be expected and do not want people touching or speaking too much to him. Also said they believe that Keenan is very aware as he becomes agitaged and trirs to move.
Update, friday, july 7th. It had been a rough couple days for Keenan. Thursday his 02 and heat rate were dropping really low and he went into afib a few times. They were able to get control of that with meds. This morning, keenan heart beat completly stopped for 10 seconds. Doctors gave him meds to speed his HR up. Doctors took Keenan to the OR around 1pm this afternoon to put temporary pace lines in. Anytime his HR drops below 50 it will shock his heart. Doctors are saying this is most likely a misfiring going on between his brain and heart, where his brain is telling his heart to slow down. Keenans hands and arms are very swollen.
As of today at 8am July 11th, Doctors found another fracture under his right eye. Keenan is also leaking fluid from his ears and nose due to these fractures. They'll be doing more scans to find out which fracture is causing the leak. They also sent a culture out to swe if that fluid is brain fluid (CSF) or snot. Keenans oxygen had been pused to 70% on his breathing machine and he will be losing his right pinky. Last night they wanted to do a lumbar drain to drain the fluid but unfortunately he was not stable enough to do so. Doctors have him on meds to prevent meningitis, as it is common with CSF.
1:30pm Doctors have lowered Keenans oxygen to 50%!! Also tested positive for C-diff.
Update july 13th.. today is another amazing day for Keenan. His oxygen is down to 40%, they took him off paraliyics, took the bolt out, and lowered sedation yesterday. Today he's moving his legs and arms. He opened his eyes a little and looked at his wife. She said he is very groggy but he also rested his hand on her side.
Doctors are talking about removing his vent over the next few days as well as his pacemaker lines.
Update, july 21.. had some tech issues updating so here goes. On the 16th Keenans vent came out. First thing he said was "i need to get out of here" hes been remeber people and events. Joking around with family, friends and nurses. He had a couple really good days.
On the 18 keenan had a fall, took down the nurse that was with him, as he is very weak on his feet. On the 19th he wasnt in a joking mood. Didn't want visitors. He was a bit confused and sundowning a bit.
20th a rough day. Ripped his feeding tube out 3x. Very confused and not making sense to family and friends. Praying whatever this is passes. Keenan was moved out of ICU to get ready for a rehab.
Update, July 27th.. Keenan is being transferred to rehab in Braintree.
Aug 1st update. Keenan is doing well in rehab. He is doing his PT and has a release date of Aug 16th. When he comes home he will need extensive PT, speech and what not. He's also on a special diet as he is not swallowing liquids correctly. When coming home he will be working on hamd and eye coordination before being allowed to drive. Ride and get back to work.
As of yesterday at 3pm, KEENAN IS HOME! He is to relax, spend time with family and heal!! No working, lifting weights, driving of any kind, lifting anything more than 10lbs. Keenan has allt of doctors Apts, PT, OT, speech, swallow tests, neuro and plastics Apts over the next few months.
This fundraiser is to help his wife Tara, who is a stay at home mom, be able to cover day to day expenses with their 5 children 18, 14, 13, 7 and 2 years old and going up to sit with with him as he recovers. I will update as updates happen. Thank you all. Keep praying. God Bless.
If you'd rather donate via venmo, Tara's venmo is @AslMomma. Last 4 of phone number (if needed) is 8547.
