RIP Kevin only 16 years old

Kevin Arias was a 16-year-old boy living in a small, struggling town. He had relocated there a couple of years earlier to escape the heartbreaking murder of his mother. Faced with the burdens of stress and financial difficulties, he spent his days singing for locals and tourists, hoping to earn a little extra money to help support himself. Known for his bright spirit and exceptional singing ability, he was beloved by the community. Kevin avoided drugs and had no desire to join local gangs; instead, he found joy in playing video games and watching anime with his friends.
Although he was friendly and well-liked, there were no visible signs of his inner turmoil; he appeared happy and engaged with those around him. With only two years left until graduation, it was devastating to think that the grief from his mother’s murder, combined with typical teenage struggles, poverty, and feeling different from his peers, could lead him to such a tragic choice. On a heart-wrenching day, his father found him hanging from the ceiling, marking a sorrowful end to the pain he had carried for so long. Kevin will be laid to rest in his hometown, where he can finally be reunited with his beloved mother, leaving behind his father and five sisters in profound grief.
Kevin was not just a son, brother, and uncle; he was also my dear friend and an amazing brother-in-law. Any kindness you can offer will directly assist with their therapy, transportation, funeral expenses, and the support they need to begin healing.
Please take a moment to talk to your children and check in on your loved ones about their feelings. Mental health awareness is vital. Depression can show itself in many forms, so it’s essential to recognize the subtle signs and patterns that may indicate someone is in distress.
