Hi I’m Krista, a 33 year old Canadian raising money to help cover some recent and upcoming expenses.
Over the past year I’ve gone through some fairly serious medical issues that have resulted in effecting my ability to work.
I left my job of 5 years last October as I could no longer take the stress of my job and deal with a possible cancer diagnosis as I was advised I have a quickly growing tumour on my left kidney.
Through the remainder of 2023 I was mostly unemployed aside for some of the month of December where I tried to return to work and was quick to realize I was unable to do the position due to the physical requirements as they refused to provide proper seating.
In early February I managed to land a work from home position but was still severely burning out and finally received a referral to an internal medicine specialist. In April at that specialist appointment I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and was given a note stating I could no longer take calls at work as the anxiety of it was causing my heart rate to continually rise. I managed to hold onto that position for a few months prior to attempting to move onto better things in August and within the first week of my new job I was quickly experiencing numbness and tingling in both legs after a long day.
I managed to push through for the last four weeks but on September 3rd I ended up in urgent care as I lost most of the feeling in my right leg. I was off work for two days then finished out the remainder of the week only to end up back in Urgent care on Sunday as I was having extreme kidney pain on my left side due to the over the counter pain meds I was taking ( robax) as it turned out that it can be harmful to people with renal issues.
I ended up off monday and now am off for the near future as I returned to Urgent Care this morning as I could not take more than ten steps before having to sit down. After receiving a CT scan, I was diagnosed with Bilateral sciatica and cannot stand for more than a few minutes at a time which will most likely result in me having to leave my new job.
As for how the funds will be used, as of this time I’m currently three months behind on both my TV and Internet bills and about two on my cellphone and they are on the verve of being disconnected. My partner will have to pay the entire cost of our rent in addition to the bills he is responsible for. In addition, I will have to purchase a mobility aid and meds as well will have get a doctors note to apply for EI benefits for sickness until I can work again.
I do apologize for the long winded statement but I would rather be open and honest with all of you so thank you for listening.
