Samuels Under Siege: Fight Back Now!

The Warren County Board of Supervisors (BOS) continues down a destructive path that began in mid-2023 with book banning and has since escalated into an indefensible and unreasonable effort to dismantle Samuels Public Library—a cherished institution founded in 1799 and a 226-year-old cornerstone of our community and county partnership.

This relentless campaign has already diverted over $150,000 in funds away from serving the public.

Effective June 30, 2025, Samuels Public Library will no longer receive funding from Warren County, following a vote by the BOS. This decision will result in a devastating shortfall of over $1.024M.

Donated funds will be used to secure legal services, cover administrative expenses—including FOIA requests—and support community outreach. Samuels Public Library, Inc. will receive any remaining funds to use at their discretion.

We must protect and defend the integrity of Samuels Public Library and preserve the structure that serves the needs of our entire community—now and in the future.

Hold the Warren County BOS accountable. They represent all citizens. The future of our library is at stake.
