LLCCA School in Phum Ou, Cambodia

Hi everyone!

For the past few weeks, Tom and I have been volunteering with a school in Cambodia that holds a very special place in our hearts. We are hoping to raise money to support the schools future plans and would be very grateful for the support of our family and friends.

Lotus Light Centre for Community Advancement (LLCCA) in Phum Ou Village Cambodia is a free school that teaches the English language to underprivileged children, running solely on donations.

In the village of Phum Ou, English is not included as part of the public school curriculum, so their spare time is spent here.

LLCCA believe they can help break the cycle of poverty by providing education and teaching the children the importance of morals, good behaviour, love and kindness.

While these children have very little, they understand the importance of learning the English language to provide themselves better opportunities in the future.

The school currently has 3 classrooms made from just wood and tin, teaching approximately 135 students.

Their dream plans are to build a small library, landscape for bicycle storage, create a playground and lay the groundwork for additional classrooms with an estimated cost of at least £4000.

As well as this, the school lacks all the basic necessities that most of us would not have considered a luxury as kids;

- hole puncher

- filing cabinets

- drawing paper

- marker pens

- highlighters

- scissors

- calculators

- pens

- pencils

- erasers

The children and teachers make the best they can from what they have, but anything more would be appreciated more than we can understand.

LLCCA’s dream is for this project to start within the next few years, but we’d love if we could contribute to make this dream become a reality even sooner.

This time of year is tough and we’ll no doubt put a huge amount of pressure on ourselves to buy the perfect gifts for our loved ones, worrying if we’ve bought enough to make them happy.

If anyone can spare a small part of that budget, the children and teachers of Phum Ou will be eternally grateful.

No matter how small, everything truly makes a difference.

LLCCA’s main priority is to provide the children with a safe space to learn and develop, paving the way for a brighter future.
