LNLS Animal Rescue started as a grass roots cat and kitten rescue. We originally started with one or two kitten or cat rescue and re-homes a year. Just in 2019 alone we are up to 16 saves. Our mission is to save neglected, abandoned, abused, lost, homeless and unloved kittens and cats. We come when we are called to catch felines in need and have crawled on our hands and knees through brush in the heat and rain and cold to listen for the faint meow. We have found litters of kittens in car engines, in bushes and under abandoned cars. We take them to one of our partner veterinarians for a well check, medicine if needed (many of our rescues come in with parasite, flea, eye and respiratory infections.) and the first round of shots. This initial visit usually costs about $95 per cat or kitten. We bottle feed the tiniest babies, teach our feral friends to trust and receive affection as well as handling them to help them in their journeys to find forever homes. We do not have adoption fees, we fund the rescue from our own pockets and donations. In October of 2019 we filed paperwork to be a Non-profit Organization which will allow us to ask for donations of food, litter, toys and money to enable us to save even more feline friends. The second part of our mission is to continue to educate the general public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. One female cat can bear up to three litters of kittens per year. This multiplied by a life span of possibly 15 years could result in her giving birth to 180 kittens in her life time. Male cats can impregnate dozens of females each year. One estimate was quoted as "Statistics show one male cat can father 420,000 kittens in just five years.” These numbers are staggering. We also work with barn cat communities and businesses that use cats to keep their rodent population down. This is a good option for some of the feral cats that can’t be rehomed. Please visit our website for more information and updates on events and other ways you can help. Every penny that’s donated to our organization is put to good use helping cats and kittens and fulfilling our mission. We aim to make a difference one life at a time. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
