La Taquiza Vegana (LTV) started as a dream to change the world. We are working hard to make it a reality. The foundation of LTV is compassion and sustainability with love at the forefront. 100% of the products used are compostable and made of recycled materials to ensure the wellbeing of the planet. LTV has a mission to change the world, not only for animals but the environment and people as well.
We met in Los Angeles outside of a pig slaughterhouse advocating for the animals and quickly found out that we had a similar dream, making the world a better place. At that time there was a little company called Eatin' Vegan founded in 2017 that Nico created where he sold tamales and cookies because he had a passion for cooking and wanted to show others through his creations that no animals have to be harmed in order to enjoy the foods we all grew up eating. Once we met, our ideas collided and that's where LTV was born, with a mission greater than us, to change the way people viewed vegan food. Both of us have not been vegan our entire life, so we are aware of the challenges that come with confronting others about their beliefs. We try to come at it from a place of understanding rather than criticism. La Taquiza Vegana is a place where everyone can come and experience cruelty free authentic mexican flavors in a supportive, welcoming environment.
We had our first pop-up in the summer of 2019 at the Vegan Mini Strip mall with a couple of tables, a tent and some cooking equipment. When the winter months came, we started hosting our pop-ups at DC Vegetarian where we currently have them now. While we love our pop-ups and look forward to them, we want our food to be more available. That is why we are raising money to open a food cart with the dreams of expanding our mission and having a bigger, louder voice for the animals and our planet! Our goal is to open on our 1 year anniversary of starting our business which is July 28. We have saved some money for the food cart expenses however, we do need our community's help. The money we raise will go towards the starting costs of the food cart as well as equipment that is needed. We appreciate anything, as it all helps. We couldn't do this without y'all!
