Laura’s Fight
Donation protected
08/17/23 Update:
Laura continues her fight, but right now in New Haven, Connecticut. Last Thursday, Laura, with her boyfriend, Phil, and her mom, Sheri, headed up to Yale to be under the care of their Chief of Surgical Oncology. On 08/11/2023, Laura underwent an extensive abdominal surgery to remove all visible remaining cancer. She is being cared for by the country's top specialist in this field.
Unfortunately, Laura has had some significant unexpected setbacks in her post-op period. Her hospitalization has been complicated by an ICU stay that will prolong her overall recovery. Her, Phil, her family, and friends are incredibly grateful for all of the donations and words of support thus far.
However, we know the current setback will create further financial strain. Our goal is to allow Laura, Phil, and her family to devote all of their focus to Laura's recovery, so we hope that another round of donations can ease the financial burdens that accompany this process. Continue to share Laura's story, contribute if/what you can, and keep this incredible, strong woman in your thoughts and prayers.
Hi, we are raising funds for our dear friend Laura.
Laura is one of the sweetest people we’ve ever met. She was our son, Maverick’s, first nanny, and from week one, even when he was just 12-weeks old, you could see a bond between them built on joy and love. Laura helped inspire Mav’s love of music, art, and food. She will be his first piano teacher as soon as he’s old enough! Her selflessness was never more evident than when her and her boyfriend, Phil, came to our house, wading through water immediately after Hurricane Ian to help us evacuate. She truly lives for others and would take the shirt off of her back for her friends and family.
Unfortunately, this past November, Laura went to the ER with intense abdominal pain, that revealed a mass on one of her ovaries, and she was later diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She is already well on her way to recovering from her first major abdominal surgery and has started her chemotherapy regimen. Between this, the extensive testing that she has already endured, and the road to recovery that lies ahead, we hope to limit as large of a financial burden as possible.
Laura continues to take this in stride, with smiles, a full heart, and the bravery we all admire to have. She has a village behind her and we are committed to sharing her story in hopes that anyone that reads this can contribute to show her any fraction of the love and support she gives to everyone, everyday.
Thank you for supporting this incredible woman and for sharing Laura’s story.
