David Opiela- Victim of a Fatal Hit And Run

The Opiela family is organizing this fundraiser for David Opiela, who was tragically and fatally struck down in the prime of his life. He was struck, dragged and killed by a U-Haul truck while crossing Horace Harding Expressway and Kissena Boulevard. The driver and passenger of the U-Haul, both women, heartlessly fled the scene on foot leaving David to die in the street. Our family is distraught and in shock over this tragedy. There are no words to describe the grief and horror we feel knowing that his killers are still on the run.

David’s wishes when the time came was to be buried with his parents, brothers and sisters in the Opiela plot. Sadly, there is not enough money to pay for a casket and graveside burial. We are devastated by this loss and even more so at the thought of not being able to honor his wishes and lay David to rest respectfully.
