Help me help others! Learn why I'm doing this

This is personal. I like polar bear dips and hate poverty.

Know the person, know their story.

Cold weather is here. Snow is on the ground. Old Man Winter and Mother Nature wait on no one. I chose a cause dear to me and close to my heart and home – homelessness. Poverty is genuinely evil. I've tasted it. You do not want it.

Poverty is happening before your eyes. In your community and family right now. Many will be involuntary, forced into poverty, for-profit LTC, etc. These are facts.

Further poverty, and actual homelessness, can result from limitations beyond control, including food insecurity and affordability. Want to put money away towards better education? High rental and housing costs will nullify and soften large ambitions. Think about it. You thought poverty only affected marginalized groups, but poverty is more extensive and intrusive. It is on your doorstep.

There are many ways you can respond. Full transparency. I spent hundreds of hours volunteering in support of helping the less fortunate. Why homelessness and Blue Door? I have family in the system.

Full transparency: there was a time my brother, father and I lived out of a hotel. Very few people know this about our past. We were between homes.

I guess you can say homelessness is personal. The folks at Blue Door are good people. I know first-hand. I know people, personally, who’ve transitioned through their doors. I met Blue Door's Michael before, and he is top-notch. I fully support Blue Door, and so should you.

Until New Year’s Day, when my toes touch the water, I will ask for small-medium-large donations. I will share and keep sharing until our target is met. I have a modest goal but aim to have contributions grow organically too.

And I will knock if you are a CEO, small business owner or entrepreneur. So get off the wallet early.

The event? On January 1st, 2023, I will take another plunge into the cold water of Lake Ontario or Lake Simcoe. I haven’t yet decided which lake, but I know this is a worthy cause to plunge into. Without your contribution, we cannot make a change together.

Real change happens at the ground level. Please donate. Much love & respect,

Kenn
