Step Up to Make Shoes & Boots for Lipedema Ladies

I'm Susan from LegsLikeMine. I'm a lipedema patient, blogger, content creator, and author of seven books about Lipedema. And I've also been working on an extraordinary project. I need your help!

Lipedema is a condition that affects 11% of women in the world today, and it causes us to have abnormal and painful fat deposits in our legs, arms, hips, and buttocks. We often have problems walking because lipedema affects how we walk, the size and width of our feet and ankles, and our overall weight. Many ladies in advanced stages have mobility problems, and Many women with lipedema struggle to find footwear that accommodates their unique needs, exacerbating their daily challenges. Recognizing this unmet need, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign to manufacture custom-designed footwear and calf boots specifically tailored for women with lipedema. Our goal is to manufacture many styles and offer our lipedema ladies comfortable, stylish, colorful, and supportive footwear that addresses their physical challenges and empowers them to navigate their lives confidently.

Some of the women we are working to help have struggled because the footwear they need is just not available. We're making shoes for ladies who cut the sides out of men's shoes to fit their feet, make their own sandals out of duct tape, wrap their feet in saran wrap in the winter to protect them from snow, and ladies who are relegated to wearing black men's trainers all the time, even with dresses, because it's all they can find. We truly are meeting an unmet need to protect our feet, provide support, and give options that were made for women to feel normal for the first time.

The LegsLikeMine team has been working for two years to develop footwear based on ladies' lipedema measurements and unique needs worldwide. We've conducted focus groups, surveys, and meetups and completed three prototyping rounds for our shoes. Lipedema ladies have graciously provided their input and even worn our prototypes around to provide feedback to make sure the shoes feel great! Additionally, we have a full lineup of shoes planned that will start with multi-occasion loafers and include ultra-wide calf and ankle boots, sandals, flats, and open-back trainers. So far, all of this research and development has been funded by me personally.

We are in the manufacturing phases, and I need your help with paying for the first rounds of inventory and continuing prototyping for the calf boots.
