Leslie's life with ALS

Donation protected
In August 2014, while helping friends clean up after the Napa earthquake, Leslie caught her toe on a step and fell. Although she was not hurt at the time it was the beginning of many occurances and progressive weakness in her legs. One and a half years later after undergoing multiple tests and painful procedures she finally recieved a diagnosis in December. Leslie has ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). ALS is a terminal illness that progresses rapidly.

Leslie is married to Dan and together they have one daughter Shelby who is 17 and still in high school. Leslie was a stay at home mom for the past several years. She has gone from being very active, always helping others and her family, to being dependant on others for most of her needs.
Leslie is in a wheelchair now and needs help to bathe, toilet, and reposition. Her needs are increasing on a weekly basis and Dan worries about her being home alone all day stuck in her wheelchair.  They do have medical insurance but it does not cover much of her needs. Dan and Leslie recently had to remodle their only bathroom to make it accessable for a wheelchair. This was very expensive. They have had to buy equipment such as a lift, shower chair, wheelchair and adult personal garments that her insurance has refused to pay for.
Any money raised here will primarily go to pay for a home health worker to help care for Leslie along with other medical expenses not covered by insurance. Home  health workers can cost about $15-20 per hour and adds up quick. Your help would mean so much to Leslie and her family. They have had their lives turned upside down and as her friend I want them to be able to enjoy what time they have left together without stressing over the finances so much.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Leslie's story. She has been my friend for 28 years. She is funny, sarcastic and loves dirty jokes. She is so used to helping others that she doesn't know how to ask for help for herself. That's why I'm setting this up for her. Thank you for letting me share how much I love her.
