I'm asking for your help in making a better life for children who are victims of trafficking, extreme poverty, homelessness, violence, child labor and forced marriage to much older men who abuse them.
2 years ago I was traveling in Bangladesh and Nepal and had the opportunity to visit shelters for children that were rescued from these kinds of situations.
Please watch the video, it explains it all.

The money that are raised from this fundraiser will go to Aparajeyo in Bangladesh who is building shelters for children at the Rohingya refugee camp for the refugees from Myanmar. They're really struggling, and are in need of everything from food and clean water and lodging to more security because the risk of trafficking of the orphans. The money will also be used to keep the shelters that are already in place functioning, so that they can keep feeding and educating the children that are rescued in addition to the ability to rescue more children. Wahida, The president of Aparajeyo will allocate the funds properly.

When I was at the shelters, the stories that I heard at the shelters broke my heart, and I decided I would do what I could to make a better life for these children.

One of the girls had been raped by her father on a regular basis, she escaped from home and was found wandering the streets of Dhaka. She was 13.

And then there were 2 sisters, 7 and 12 years old. Their mother had passed away, their father had remarried, and his new wife didn’t want the girls,  so they were tossed out on the street, and also found wandering the streets of Dhaka.

A few of the girls, ranging in age from 5 to 16 were rescued from brothels.

When I first arrived I didn’t know what to expect, I expected to see a lot of anger and sadness, and there was some of that, but I was surprised to see the amount of joy and  playfulness among them, and I was even more surprised to see  the strong sense of community they had created. These kids really had each other’s backs.
Rescuing works!

My time at the shelters was spent playing with them, helping to serve food, teaching English, but most importantly to me, I was given the opportunity to photograph them and I took some beautiful pictures.
Why did I want to photograph them?

I want to show you that there is hope.

I’m giving you an opportunity to be an active part of a solution to this problem.

The Non-Profits in charge of the shelters I visited  were  Aparajeyo in Bangladesh and CWIN in Nepal.
I do have permission to do this.

I’m so grateful for their hospitality, and for trusting me with the children.

And I’ll always be grateful for the many beautiful children I got to spend time with.

I’m left with some unforgettable moments.
