Let’s Find Larry
Donation protected
On February 27th, 2023, our family received a message stating that our beloved uncle Larry (Lawrence Atchison) went missing from his home in the neighborhood of Bennett Valley, Santa Rosa, CA. As I write this on Sunday, March 5th at 11:05pm he is nowhere to be found!
Your generosity will help with efforts to bring Larry Home. Some items the funds will be used for are; food/beverage for family and volunteers working at the command center around-the-clock, printing materials, buying supplies, and hiring professionals (attorneys, investigators) to help us bring more leads to our local law enforcement agencies. Please read below.
It’s been a week full of grief, hope, and grief again for our entire family, especially my aunt Cecilia Mariana, Larry's wife. This has been a week I wish to no family. It’s painful.
Unfortunately, about 750,000 families go through this each year. According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, a national database for missing people, over 90,000 people are missing in the U.S. at any given time. The average number has been about 750,000 per year for the past ten years.
Our family is close-knit, with abundant love for each other. In the face of tragedy, we have been called to put our lives on hold while we focus on searching and finding our uncle, our tio Larry.
During his prime, tio Larry was the life of the family gatherings and he gave all of us, including the younger generation, an immense amount of warmth, kindness, and such a positive force…I find it hard to put it into words at this very time.
Our tio Larry was diagnosed with dementia about three years ago, which was hard enough for my tia Cecila Mariana. It has been difficult for our family to watch our uncle’s personality and laughter diminish over time, but his presence was still uplifting for us.
Sadly, six days ago dementia/Alzheimer’s brought another, far more painful, turn of events. His disappearance has brought a void only an event like this can trigger. The unknowns and false hopes have kept our vigilance on high alert, while the unfortunate reality of his disappearance has brought us closer (that’s something Larry would have wanted), with our cousin Pierre leading the family through this tragedy.
Many of you, our extended family, friends, employers, and amazing community have asked how to help, and we are grateful for your donation by making a meaningful contribution to our task to find our dear uncle Larry. We truly thank you.
