Life for Lila, help her beat cancer!

It is with hope in our hearts that we need to include you in the journey of our daughter, sister, friend, and chiropractor Dr. Lila Baker, who is currently battling cancer. Lila began this journey over a year ago when she began experiencing digestive issues. Having the initial thought that her old allergies from childhood were coming back to haunt her, she consulted a naturopathic physician. After extensive blood work, the physician was able to stabilize her digestive systems - never in a million years did we suspect cancer.

With so many stressors on both emotional and environmental levels this past year her body’s defenses were down as the cancer cells grew and now she carries a full-blown tumor the size of a large cantaloupe in her abdomen that originates from her colon and is spreading. The tumor is inoperable and the only way to shrink it is with chemotherapy.

In the journey thus far, all of this has been very strenuous and challenging to manage. It took the UCSF oncology team several months to diagnose and begin treatment on her tumor. Lila has been hospitalized 3 times due to severe pain and vomiting. She is now on her second round of chemotherapy, of which she is currently recovering from, and each chemo will be another adventure in healing.

While the tumor seems to be shrinking the side effects from the chemo are taking their toll on her body and spirit. Lila hopes to travel to Idaho for some alternative treatment at the  LifeTree Wellness Center (https://lifetreewellness.com/), a treatment program in Idaho where she can be closer to her family for at least a 2 weeks of treatment using various alternative methods. If she is fully able and healthy enough to fly she is hoping to follow with a 3-week program in Hawaii (https://www.hawaiinaturopathicretreat.com/programs/medical/alternative-cancer-treatment-gerson-therapy/prices/). Since the programs are not a part of standard western medicine, it’s not covered by insurance and everything is out-of-pocket. We’ve done extensive research on a multitude of programs and we believe that these two programs will prove to be the best options in moving forward in Lila’s healing journey.

In addition to these healthful programs Lila also needs a place to live and food on the table. Lila’s mom, Karrie has been staying with her through out the diagnosis and treatment so both of them need our help for travel expenses and ongoing cost of daily living.

We are in hopes that her community can assist with helping Lila fight the good fight and come out healthy! So if you have the ability to help out financially, it would be genuinely and deeply appreciated. We are also welcoming prayers and healing from friends, family, and all those touched by this incredible woman.

Lila’s hope is to get well enough to also make use of integrative oncology modalities (natural health cures and lifestyle) that will help her get rid of the tumor, but also keep her body cancer free so that she can move forward in living a long and healthy life.  Part of the problem with all natural modalities is that the cost is up front and there is no coverage by insurance. We are keeping hope alive and reaching out to our community in our efforts to see that this can happen with minimal stress on Lila at this time. We deeply appreciate anything and any way you can help Lila at this time. Please donate and get Lila back in the circus of life and healing!
