Solar Lights for Village in India

*****************************************************

In February 2015, I am headed to Germalam, India to construct a water pump and facilites for the village. The water pump is being funded by my company Fenner PLC, but I wanted to see if there was something I could contribute as an individual that would last longer than my one week there

There is something I can do. There is something you can do.

Imagine that you're in a small village with dirt roads, no electricity, and no running water.... Now imagine that it's raining so hard that the rain is seeping into your house and the roads are washed away. It's pitch black and you can't see your hand in front of you.  How terrifying that must be for a child, an elderly person, anyone.

Turns out the village is in need of solar lights, especially during the monsoon season. Light tends not to be available for long periods of time during this time. This means it is dangerous for people to go to the water well, to go to school, to be out past dark.

I'd like to set up 10 “ruggedized”solar street lamps, which can be maintained with minimum effort. The approximate cost would be GBP 1500.

Would you please consider donating what you can to shine some light in a community where it's needed?

Thanks and #shineon!
