Shoulder surgery
Anyone who knows me knows working out and being physical is my whole life. It’s what makes me happy and keeps me pushing. Back in February I had an accident where I fell, I landed back on my right arm, the person behind me fell and landed on my bent back arm. I Was in a lot of pain, but I thought I it was something minorand decided to take time off of work and the gym to let it heal and do physical therapy. After being in pain 24/7 and not being able to sleep, 6 months went by and nothing changed. I finally got an MRI image.
The findings: Posterosuperior and supeior Labral tear from “1:00 to 10:00” , with bicep anchor detachment. And rotator cuff tear
Meaning: Basically my Labrum is torn, my rotator cuff is torn, and my bicep is particularly detached from my arm.
I have to get surgery to repair the damage to my arm, it won’t heal on it’s on without it. With surgery I should (with physicaltherapy and recovery) regain full function.
The Current Issue: Before this injury I didn’t have health insurance and getting it now after imaging, because it’s a pre-existing condition, the surgery is not covered. The doctor I found is great (I went to several before finding him who were not) however the facility I’m going to does not except payment plans and I have to pay at the time of service.
I miss swimming the most. It was my passion and I can no longer rotate my right arm. My left arm is trying to overcompensate for my injuries and is starting to hurt as well. I can no longer pick up my pig, workout, or do most of my work on set as it requires lifting. Right now sometimes something as simple as flipping on a light switch causes pain. I can’t sleep, on my side or my stomach it all hurts my arm. I can’t hug, or lift my arm past my chest. I just want to get back to a normal life free of pain.
