Thank you for sharing this page! Let's Help Lift Up the Liverman Family from Jeff's Cancer Battle and Crushing Medical Debt.
THEIR STORY:
Jeff, Kendra, Brayden and Grayson are the Liverman's from Edgewater, MD. They had been hoping to buy their first home as a family, although medical debt has kept it just out of reach. Their 10 year old son Brayden was diagnosed with severe autism at age 2 and they've been paying for multiple therapies and treatments for him for the past 8 years. Jeff has also had multiple hospital stays due to complications from type 2 diabetes. Often using credit cards for treatment and hospital bills, they've been struggling to pay down thousands of dollars in debt. Now, with Jeff's recent diagnosis of Stage 3 Colon Cancer they are headed toward a long, difficult and emotional road ahead. Jeff's new insurance will not cover everything and they are expecting tens of thousands of dollars in additional medical debt by this time next year.
Their dreams of buying a home are on hold for now and they struggle with how they will keep a positive and uplifting home life for the boys. They hope to be able to continue treatments and therapies for Brayden and find a way to keep Grayson in Tae Kwon Do classes and focused on schoolwork. Jeff's health is critical to Kendra and the boys and their everyday lives. Your support is greatly appreciated and will go directly to helping the Liverman Family fight their way through this disease and keep the boys in their treatments and programs. Please also share this page with your network. All of your actions are helpful, appreciated and have a big impact on their lives. Thank you!!!

September 2019 - Jeff's Cancer Diagnosis
Jeff had just 2 days left at his old job before starting his new job. He was getting his first colonoscopy at age 46 because he had seen blood in his bowel movements for a few weeks. The tests revealed it was Stage 3 Colon Cancer.
Jeff's doctors have scheduled a treatment plan that includes at least 5 weeks of chemotherapy pills and 5 weeks of radiation to shrink the tumor. He'll then have surgery to remove the tumor and surrounding portions of his colon. He'll have to wear a colostomy bag for 4 to 6 months after the surgery as his intestine heals. They plan to install a chemotherapy port where he'll have intravenous chemotherapy for several months after surgery. His body will likely become weak from the assault of chemo. If all goes as planned though, Jeff will be in remission and cured by the Summer of 2020.
April 2011 - Brayden's Autism Diagnosis
Jeff & Kendra's first son Brayden was diagnosed with severe autism in April of 2011. He had been regressing for several months prior, loosing the ability to keep eye contact, loosing words he had once used and started classic autistic behaviors of intolerance. He had great anxiety with change and wouldn't tolerate different people, foods or surroundings. He began to have symptomatic behaviors such as jumping, flapping, chewing, scratching and hitting himself or others. Altering their life forever, this fundamentally changed Jeff and Kendra's vision of their future. Brayden would not have a typical childhood and may need constant assistance into adulthood. Jeff's role as the primary earner for their family is so important to Brayden's success and future.
Brayden's therapies and treatments have included: Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, ABA Therapy, Detoxification Treatments, Special diet protocols, Vitamins and Supplements, Brain Scans, Blood work and more. Brayden's treatments often exceed 7K in additional expenses each year. These treatments are mostly out of pocket expenses and are not covered by insurance. Though they do help to improve Brayden's life. Kendra and Jeff have seen him sleep better, eat better and have less extreme or violent behaviors as a result of many of these therapies.
