Living History Monemvasia Fund

Donation protected
Thank you to those who donated to the successful start of our Oral History Project. This allowed us to acquire the video recording equipment and technical expertise needed to begin our collection. The project has been greeted with great interest and support amongst both young and old residents. The community of Monemvasia can only benefit from this exciting way to preserve their history and they are keen to be involved.

The Oral History Project has now been incorporated into our existing archive. under the overall title: Living History Monemvasia. It has proved a great opportunity to complement and expand the gathering and documenting of photographs for the Society. The extensive Poul Rasmussen photographic collection has recently been donated to us. This dates from the 1960’s and includes unique material from Monemvasia and surrounding villages. This needs to be curated and most importantly professionally conserved.

We therefore continue to seek your support and aim for our €4000 goal. Any donations we receive will go directly towards purchasing equipment and, more importantly, the necessary technical expertise to maintain and preserve the recorded material alongside our photographic archive.

Effie Agnopoulou and Despoina Evgenidou are both experts in their fields and continue to manage Living History Monenvasia on a voluntary basis with the help of Julia Grigoras, our new intern. Please donate as little or as much as you can to help Monemvasia save its unique life stories and photographic records for the benefit of present and future generations. The Society extends this appeal to our loyal followers to support us as we continue to grow this unique archive. If you can contribute anything to help, we would be extremely appreciative of your generosity.

Donations are processed in £ and € payments are accepted. Thank you!
