Local Surf Lounge Academy & Vrygrond Food Kitchen

-THE LOCAL SURF LOUNGE ACADEMY- The Local Surf Lounge Academy started by Shuan Solomons, is a new surf outreach program in Muizenberg. The Local Surf Lounge Academy provides kids from the ages of 4 to18 with a safe space to learn how to surf and swim, transport to and from the academy, a healthy meal, surf and swim equipment, mentoring,  and help with school work. The pandemic has caused most other outreach programs to be closed leaving many kids from Capricorn/Vrygrond with nowhere to go. We need this program to provide kids from disadvantaged backgrounds with a place to not only learn how to swim and surf but to provide them with an opportunity to spend their free time in a healthy and productive way. Monthly cost to run program: approx. $930 USD  -includes all costs (rent, food, equipment, and transport) -THE FOOD KITCHEN, CAPRICORN- The Covid-19 pandemic has been extremely difficult for the Vrygrond/Capricorn community, as many of the people living here are unemployed and without food and other basic necessities. The lockdown in South Africa has been extended and is estimated to last another 5 months. At times like this it is so important to give back to communities and people that are struggling. We will be utilizing funds raised to buy and handout food and other necessities to the community while still adhering to lockdown guidelines. As many other organizations have started handing out food to the community, this initiative will hand out food on an as-needed basis. Help us so we can give back to this amazing community!
