Lorelei Vs. Lyme
LORELEI VS. LYME
Lorelei was diagnosed with chronic, late-stage Lyme disease and has been suffering from multiple co-infections in her jaw that have put strain on her lymphatic, adrenal, liver, thyroid and hormone systems.
She is undergoing multiple complex surgeries to remove these co-infections, including tumor removal, reconstructive surgery in her jaw, and tooth replacement. Once the infection load is removed from her body, her doctors are hopeful that her body will then be able to respond to Lyme-specific treatments and eventually go into remission or better yet - be totally healed.
If she doesn’t get these surgeries, which are not covered by insurance and must be paid for up front, the infection will continue spreading into other systems in her body and will eventually be fatal.
Lorelei needs $45,000 total to cover the cost of all these procedures. In August 2020, $11,949 was raised to cover the cost of her first procedure (tumor & tooth removal and reconstructive surgery that included a bone graft). Her body is now ready for the next stage of reconstruction on the left side of her jaw. On August 25th, Lorelei will undergo a second surgery that will include a sinus lift, bone graft, and more jaw reconstruction.
**While Lorelei was able to save a small amount for this procedure, she will still need an additional $12,000 by Monday, August 23rd, 2021 to cover the total cost. Please consider being part of her healing by giving to her campaign today!

LORELEI’S DIAGNOSES EXPLAINED
Undiagnosed and untreated Lyme disease and the tick-borne co-infection, Babesia, have caused a cascade of biological responses in Lorelei’s body. Here is a partial list of Lorelei’s diagnoses:
· Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
· Fibromyalgia
· Chronic Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)
· Chronic Inflammatory Response (CIRS)
· MARCoNS (Multiple Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci)
· Severe dental issues (See below)
Because Lyme resides in the mouth, the disease can cause tooth pain unrelated to cavities or any other dental issues. However, because Lorelei went undiagnosed for so long, dentists misdiagnosed prior tooth pain, which resulted in unnecessary procedures, including three root canals. This, in turn, caused more problems, because Lyme especially thrives in teeth that are no longer alive (like in her teeth that had root canal treatments). And this, in turn, lead to infections and cavitations in her jawbone.
Lorelei’s road to recovery is long, and the first step in regaining her health is to address the dental issues caused by Lyme disease, including:
· Multiple abscessed teeth
· Large tumors (probably benign) in the left & right mandibles that affect facial nerves, causing numbness and tingling of the lower lip, chin, tongue, and tip of nose
· Chronic Ischemic Jawbone Disease
· Severe bone loss from infection
LORELEI’S TREATMENT JOURNEY EXPLAINED
Lorelei is undergoing numerous surgeries over the course of several years, as her compromised immune system requires that the work be done slowly, allowing her time to heal in between procedures.
STAGE 1 - COMPLETED AUGUST 2020
Lorelei’s surgeon removed a large tumor and tooth #18. Pathology was done on the tumor and found that it was benign. A bone graft and platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment was done to accelerate healing and lower infection risk.
STAGE 2 - SCHEDULED AUGUST 25, 2021
Now that her body has had adequate time to heal from the first procedure, Lorelei’s surgeon feels she is ready to undergo more reconstructive surgery on her left jaw. This will include a sinus lift and more bone grafting. If all goes well, 6 months post surgery, she can undergo surgeries on the right side of her jaw.
STAGE 3 - FEBRUARY/MARCH 2022 (estimated)
Lorelei’s surgeon will remove tumors on the right side and possibly undergo another bone graft and more jaw reconstruction. If all goes well, 6 months post surgery, she can undergo more reconstructive surgery on the right side of her jaw.
STAGE 4 - AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2022 (estimated)
Lorelei will undergo more jaw reconstruction on the right side of her jaw. If all goes well, she can then progress to stage 5.
STAGE 5
Once the dental/oral issues are cleared up, Lorelei will have a better response to Lyme disease treatment, which will include dealing with the MARCoNS, which will in turn allow certain hormones to begin to balance. She will also begin a protocol to address the CIRS (caused by biotoxin illness from Lyme disease), which is causing vision problems, deep, persistent fatigue, joint pain, body aches, and dizziness, as well as some neurological issues.
Hopefully this gives you an understanding of the cascade of Lyme-related health issues Lorelei has been dealing with for the past eight years. Let’s continue to lend a hand and help her along her road to recovery.
