Hi!
My name is Lucija Ruzevic. I am 15 years old and am a freshman at Denton High School in Denton, TX. I am currently working toward graduation with an International Baccalaureate diploma.

I started sailing when I was 9 years old at Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club with coach Kelly Holmes-Moon in a one-person boat called an Optimist. I continued my sailing with coach Scott Lindley at Forth Worth Boat Club. In April 2016, I moved into a Laser 4.7, also a one-person dinghy, and started working with coach Mattia D'Errico.
Last summer, I visited Croatia and sailed with coach Teo Piasevoli, a Croatian National Youth Sailing Coach. After working with coach Piasevoli, I was invited to represent Croatia at the Europa Cup held in March 2017, in Koper, Slovenia, as part of their national team.

In order to better prepare for the Europa Cup regatta, I have been practicing boat speed, boat handling, race starts and race tactics with coach Scott Lindley around 15 - 18 hours a week. Additionally, I have been swimming and doing workouts on a hiking bench, and many different leg, core, and arm exercises for about 3 hours on daily basis. Every day before bed, I read and/or watch videos about boat handling and race tactics.

Competing in this event would be an amazing experience for me and would help me grow as a person and a sailor.
