LNT's 100,000 Nickel Drive
Help us collect 100,000 nickels to make a difference!
The Lucky Nickel Theatre Co. is a company of young actors from ages 5 to 16. We began our journey 2007 as a community service to give back to Barrington, the town we live in. We offered this opportunity free of nickels (cost) to any child wishing to participate.
Theater, for some of these kids has been a life changing experience, giving them an opportunity to shine brighter than a nickel in a way they never would have had the chance to do otherwise.
What the Nickel looks like today.
8 years later, and we are still at it! LNT has produced 14 plays , as well as opened a Performing Arts studio providing instruction in Music ,Vocals, and Drama. Even though we have established as a small businness LNT continues to give back by awarding 4 scholarships to students in need every year, so that every child may have this unique opportunity. In addition, LNT's owner/artistic director has continued to provide community service with outreach programs in Oaklyn and Camden. Now thats alot of nickels we' ve given back!
The Shiny Nickel Stuff!
Now LNT has a grand project on the horizon . LNT is about to bring it's original production Dolly for Sue -Project Revival to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival . The piece was written by LNT's founder Nicole DeRosa Lukaitis. Although it has received much success in accolades and has moved audiences of all ages. . It has not produced enough nickels to even cover the rent!
Why we need nickels!
Our first goal is to get this important piece of work to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival!
The second is to continue to have a roof over our heads while we do it!
LNT strives to provide the best opportunnities for kids at the least cost! LNT's founder began this journey because she wanted to give her own chiildren as well as others an opportunity in arts they would have never had otherwise. She understands the cost of having kids in activities, and with 3 of her own knows how difficult it is to afford that! Her dream finally came true and hundreds of kids have been given that opportunity!
Why all those nickels?
Well, we need alot of nickels for the fee to become a registered artist in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
Then we need more nickels for a space to perform at the Festival.
Then even more nickels to continue our amazing work to bring to the Festival.
About
Dolly for Sue- The Project Revival is a story about the true-to -life experience about kids in Foster Care. The story follows a teenage girl named Andi who, along with her little sister Gabi is about to hit the 22 month mark in Foster Care. The two have been placed together in a foster home until, in Andi's mind, she believes she must leave in order to increase her sister's chances for adoption. From there, Andi is found and placed in a group home where she is labeled a runaway risk. The story continues to follow Andi , as well as touch on some of the lives of other kids in the rollercoaster ride of life in Foster Care.
Without your nickels..
Without your nickels ,LNT will be forced to lose out on a great opportunity to help us grow. We are looking to our friends and the families we have worked with along the years to help us continue making a difference.
EVERY little bit counts!
The Deadline
We won't stop until we hit our goal!
Change the world with nickels!
We are not asking for alot just alot of nickels, enough to cover what we need. Making a difference in our small part of the world is helping shape the future of it all, and just think of all those nickels that need a home!
And any extra nickels
Will go toward a project we created with our dear friend Tallulah called Tallulahs Travels
Tallulahs Travels
Tallulah once a Foster Parent in New Jersey reached out to many friends asking for used or "unneeded" duffle bags for kids “travelling” in and out of Foster Homes. So many times kids in Foster Care do not have the luxury of packing a suitcase, and basically carry their whole lives going from home to home in a trash bag.
So many of us have at least one bag we are not using and hate to see it go to waste so we keep them just in case! Here is the case!
