In Memoriam Lunie Dalexis

Back home in Haiti, Marie Yves Lunie Chery Dalexis always dreamed of becoming a medical doctor but after immigrating to the United States, she decided to pursue a career in nursing instead. Lunie went on to receive both her Bachelor and Master's degree in Nursing from Curry College, all while committing herself to serving and caregiving. Furthermore, she was an educator, dedicated to empower aspiring nurses as a Clinical Professor at Roxbury Community College (RCC) and Labouré College. At RCC, she was even graced to serve as the keynote speaker during one of their commencement ceremonies.

As is evidenced by her impressive resume, much of Lunie's life was dedicated to caring for the sick and imparting knowledge in the classroom. In her honor, the Dalexis family would like to carry on her legacy by granting scholarships for books and tutoring to students interested in pursuing careers in Healthcare and Sciences. The Lunie Chery Dalexis Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is pursuing a degree in the Health Care and Sciences and demonstrates hospitality, ingenuity, and perseverance, three qualities that Lunie embodied up until her last days. 

In July 2018, the scholarship was granted to 5 students who were already or in the process of pursuing a career in healthcare AND embodied all three qualities that are required of an outstanding healthcare professional.
