Heart to Heart

Make a Difference Rescue (MADR) is a Metro Detroit based canine rescue dedicated to helping abused and abandoned animals.  MADR is well known for taking in heartworm positive dogs, as well as black dogs and bully breeds that would otherwise, and most likely, be euthanized because of cost and overcrowding. 

MADR recently rescued Rosita, a pregnant dog whose owners left her in an abandoned building to fend for herself.  Animal Control found her, and took her in, and could not release her to rescue because the owner wanted her back after abandoning her.  Rosita was forced to give birth to her 12 babies in the cold, dark shelter where 3 of her pups died. 4 weeks later Rosita and her 9 pups were released to Make A Difference Rescue, after the owner did not show up to court to claim them - abandoning them once again. 

The cost of getting those puppies and mom healthy is very expensive.  Rosita is heartworm positive along with many other dogs in our rescue.  We have done over 65 heartworm treatments this year alone and just recently saved 4 other dogs from being euthanized - all are heartworm positive.
