Masjid Muhammad Seniors' Van
Donation protected
Meet our seniors at Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque. Our seniors are raising money to replace their broken van. The van enables our seniors to visit each other, attend Masjid functions, participate in outdoor community events, and continue living a wholesome and active life.
I know you can relate when I say our seniors—many of whom are Pioneers—are the heart of this community.
They make the best cakes, pies, cookies and bean soup. They have memorable stories to share about “Nation Building” from “back in the day.” And you dare not step out of line, because they don’t miss a beat to remind you of your manners.
The staff and caregivers at Masjid Muhammad make every effort to plan social events that keep our seniors busy, feeling energized and loved; they paint, shop, bowl, play bingo, attend movies every Tuesday, and have fun at the Nationals’ baseball games. We also have a daily nutritional program at Masjid Muhammad called KIBAR, which provides (free) halal lunches Monday-Thursday. Here, our seniors meet, eat and exercise in a safe and caring environment. I told you, our seniors are important to us.
It was recently brought to our attention that the seniors’ van is broken and too costly to repair. We learned about the van when we tried to organize a surprise visit for our seniors to visit another senior who is partially paralyzed and recovering in a rehabilitation center due to a stroke. What a disappointment for everyone! This unfortunate circumstance was the impetus to inspire this GoFundMe campaign.
This 15-passenger van used to provide so many outings for our seniors. Help purchase a new, bigger and better van to keep our seniors on the move!
Many of us have parents that have transitioned, and we wish they were still around. Our seniors remind us that only faith can heal the heart, and with willingness they warmly embrace us and lend a helping hand to remind us that everything will be ok.
No one can ever replace a parent's love, but the warmth and support of our seniors certainly helps. Just as they’ve been there for us, let’s show them how much we appreciate them by lending our own support and help to them.
Please help our seniors at Masjid Muhammad, The Nation's Mosque, purchase a workable van by donating towards this campaign. The van will enable our seniors to visit with one another, attend community events, and to continue their tremendous contributions to our vibrant community.
Thank you,
Fitrah
