They're facing homelessness. reaching out to my rescue community for help with a very difficult situation. If anyone can rally together and make a miracle happen this holiday season, I know it’s you, it’s us.
This is not only a Covid-19 situation, it's a beloved pet situation. As for Covid-19? When it's gone --- it's NOT gone. The devastation it leaves behind is evident in what my friend is dealing with.
My dear friend is in trouble. As the mother of two beautiful, rescued fur babies with special needs, she’s been a blessing to them and to many others in the rescue community. She is a giver, a helper. Working with nursing homes as an essential healthcare worker in an extremely high risk area of the country she knew wasn't the best situation, but like so many other essential workers went to work daily and did her job. In April she was diagnosed with Covid19.
She "recovered" from Covid19 but now has now has Post Covid Syndrome and is referred to as a “ long hauler” along with at least 30% of those who’ve had covid. She continues to suffer from vertigo, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, weakness and debilitating headaches. Unfortunately, because of that, her job is in limbo. She cannot go back to work full-time and reasonable accommodations are not being made. Of course this disqualifies her for unemployment as well. She has been seeking legal assistance but no one will provide pro bono services and legal aide grant does not include covid cases at this time. She needs help to get back to work. She has not received a paycheck since April. Her life has been turned upside down and she’s scared she will never fully recover, physically, emotionally or financially.
She’s quite behind on rent and utilities. $7108.80 on rent, $351.50 on utilities and she had internet turned off. This is not a person who is frivolous. She's very, very carful with what money she has. She is very knowledgeable regarding providing advocacy and assistance for others and has knocked on many doors, attempting to help her own situation but due to the backlogged system and the circumstances her employer has created she cannot get the assistance now. She needs an attorney to fight against her employment discrimination and that’s thousands more that she doesn’t have. It’s been going from bad to worse without legal representation @ approximately $300/hr. They're facing homelessness.
Our friend has helped countless others during her professional career as well as her volunteer rescue career. I’d love to see people pull together to work towards a solution to stabilize her situation and I’m extremely grateful for the wonderful assistance of those participating in this fundraiser.
