Madeline's Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Madeline Ong-Sakata has been one of the biggest leaders and activist of our community. We all have learned a tremendous amount from her and she has always made it a priority to make everyone feel like family. Madeline recently moved to Maryland to help her daughter raise three children. Unfortunately, she was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer spreading to her lungs. We don't know why our community leaders, who do good for others, have to go through this experience.
On behalf of her family, I would like your support as she starts this fight against cancer. She currently has medicare and has the best doctors in D.C. However, it will not cover everything she has to go through. She is currently trying different chemo options and some medications/treatments require a hefty out of pocket cost. She chose to stay in Maryland and go through what she can without much pain and give her more time to be with family. She may also need to have caregivers come to the house when needed. And sadly, eventually when she leaves us, funds will be needed to send her back to Arizona and celebrate her life.
We don't know how long she has. It could be a few months or it could be a year. Madeline has a huge family and it breaks her heart that she won't be able to see her grandchildren grow up. We all want her to go through this journey without pain and the worry of medical bills. She has been a tremendous leader, teacher, mentor, and activist who has touched so many lives in a positive way and she appreciates all the love and support you could send her way.
Thank you so much for being a part of her fight and you know Madeline has a lot of fight in her. We hope that with your help, she can get the best care that she needs.
