Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,

My name is Shanta’ Favors, and I am honored to be serving as Ms. Wheelchair Michigan 2024. As an ardent advocate, my mission is to bridge the gap between direct caretakers and the disability community, offering a comprehensive, 360° perspective on care. I am a former Director of Care,now I am on the receiving end of needing care. So my platform means so much to me. I know what it takes on both ends of the equation of care to bridge the gap!

" So here I am, Rolling with a purpose," turning my adversity into advocacy as Ms. Wheelchair Michigan 2024 seeking the esteemed title of Ms. Wheelchair America 2025, my journey is driven by a commitment to ensure that our disability community and our caretakers voices are heard and our needs are met. So many individuals go without personal care assistance. Help with showers, getting dressed, incontinence care, getting out of bed, things many of us can't do on our own, so we rely on another individual to help us live a dignified quality life. However we are in a huge crisis,the direct caretaker shortage crisis! Our direct caretakers, are leaving the field as they are tired of being underpaid, unappreciated and lacking resources, meanwhile caretakers and care recipients need one another, so my platform is all about breaking barriers and building an alliance, for our quality of life hinges on the quality of our care. With that said I'm advocating for both the disabled and the very people we depend on, for our caretakers are the unsung heroes who makes living possible for many of us.

However, to accomplish this mission, I am reaching out to you for financial support. Your generous contributions will facilitate my entry into Ms. Wheelchair America competition, my travels and enable me to continue breaking barriers and amplifying the voices of individuals within the disability community and our dedicated caretakers.

Your donations are not merely supporting my participation in this competition; they are instrumental in bringing my platform to life. By standing with me, you are actively contributing to a movement aimed at assuring all disabled Americans has access to personal care assistance regardless of their insurance status and advocating for the rights and well-being and safeguards for our caretakers. Our caretakers are the unsung heroes who make living possible for many of us.

The impact of your support transcends the current disabled and our caretakers, but it benefits society as a whole. By promoting effective caregiving practices and advocating for robust support systems, we are collectively paving the way for a future where any of us or our loved ones may need similar aid.

In the lead-up to the national competition in August, I will be tirelessly traveling across the state and beyond, promoting advocacy for our direct caretakers and the disability community, and sharing actionable, effective strategies.
