Help the Taulbees with Maggie's mounting medical expenses

Donation protected
Maggie Taulbee, eldest daughter of Beth and Scott Taulbee, is a kind, loving and compassionate young woman. She is also a natural athlete. Prior to contracting the Corona Virus, Mononucleosis, and Long Covid as a high school sophomore in 2020, Maggie was actively involved in sports, community service, and other extracurricular activities.

Today Maggie is a college freshman on a medical leave of absence from college. She is struggling to get her nutritional needs met, walk around the block and get out of the house. She is also fighting for her life and in dire need of surgery to address her most-pressing medical issues.

Maggie has endured close to 4 long years of painful medical issues, numerous hospital visits, and way more doctors’ appointments than any child should ever have to experience. She was finally diagnosed with multiple chronic and multi-systemic health conditions, but her most debilitating and life-threatening symptoms are attributable to Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS) and Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS).

At a very high level, the life-saving surgeries that Maggie needs will address abdominal blood flow, nerve entrapment, and duodenal compression issues to restore the natural flow of digestion and make it easier for food to pass beyond the compressed region. The surgery will take place in Los Angeles, hopefully in the coming weeks. Maggie and one of her parents will need to stay in the LA area for about a month for post-op visits.

Maggie and her family are in great need of help with costs related to accumulating non-covered medical expenses, travel to and from Los Angeles, and lodging while in LA. Our hope is to raise $100,000 to help offset these costs and many other medical expenses that have already been incurred from numerous hospitalizations.

Thank you for considering supporting the Taulbee family as they continue to do everything possible to help Maggie through her health issues. We are all hopeful that Maggie will once again be able to function as a “normal” teenager, resume her college studies post recovery from her surgeries, and ultimately pursue her passion of a career in animal and wildlife conservation.
