Maidenhead & Taplow Sea Cadets New Base

The Maidenhead Sea Cadets Unit is based on the River Thames near Maidenhead Bridge and we are raising funds for a new building to replace the existing one which is old and no longer meets the needs of the organisation and its objective of delivering an excellent cadet experience.
The current building is really a collection of small constructions which have evolved over many years and was largely built by volunteers using whatever materials were available at the time.
The land area available for the proposed new building is limited, therefore it is essential to maximise use of the space whilst providing improved facilities and taking advantage of the latest technological developments to deliver a cost effective, environmentally friendly facility.
Planning permission has been granted to demolish the current buildings which are no longer fit for purpose and replace them with a brand new, purpose-built facility.  The total cost of the new build is budgeted to be approximately £500,000.
Unlike other cadet organisations Sea Cadets is not funded by the Ministry of Defence.  Every Sea Cadet unit is a charity in its own right and the maintenance, development and running costs are funded by cadet subscriptions, donations, grants and fund-raising events.
Importantly, our new building will meet the current and future needs of Sea Cadets and provide a community hub where other voluntary organisations and clubs can meet.

Maidenhead Sea Cadets is a registered charity, and we are proud to offer membership to girls and boys from every ethnic background in our very diverse community.  We also welcome recruits who have disabilities.  We integrate them fully within the Unit so they can participate in all activities and overcome challenges just like the others.
