Major Tank's Emergency Vet Expenses

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,

Due to a huge unexpected expense for our dear pup, Major Tank, we are reaching out. The costs from Crossroads Emergency Vet was almost 3k, we will have more costs coming our way from Pet Vet, as Major is still there.

Over the weekend, we believe that our beautiful black Labrador Major Tank ingested something during a walk. He became a very sick pup. We were unable to see what it was but it was something that someone had tossed in the sidewalk/bushes in our community.

Since the weekend, he started acting lethargic. His stool was black tarry oily diarrhea. We rushed him to the emergency vet. The lab/X-ray results were not good. He was bleeding internally, dehydrated and has developed a secondary infection in his intestines/bowels. This is very serious infection. Our Majy is losing lots of blood and was in pain. The X-Ray showed it clearly! He needed hospitalization and stabilization!

To stabilize him, they had to give him (2) two 120ml unit canine plasma (blood/platelets transfusions), IV fluids with many meds of antibiotics & pain meds. Sadly, we had to leave him. We called at 4am to check on him. All night he kept passing the bloody feces, panting and was restless all night.

At 8 am, we picked him up and got an update from the vet that he has responded well to the treatment; however, his blood counts were not where they should be and that he must be transferred directly to our vet for continued care. Poor guy is so sedated from the pain meds, still had the IV port in his leg, and then right before the car ride, he continued to pass more blood.

Our vet gave us an update today at 5 pm that Major is improving but they are keeping him another night. He still needs IV fluids, plus they will do more blood work in the morning to see how he is blood counts are doing. Hopefully he gets to come home tomorrow.

It makes our hearts so sad to see our furry kid so ill. We want our happy rescue pup back!

Any contributions are beyond APPRECIATED! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Majy says "Woof-woof."
