A Therapy Puppy for the Pitt-Roche’s
In 2017, at the age of 22, Beth was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. At the time of her
diagnosis Beth was juggling a very busy life;
raising a toddler, a young baby, running a
household, doing a Degree and battling the
scary and unknown disease that is...Cancer.
Following Beth’s diagnosis, she undertook six rounds of intensive Chemotherapy. She had Invasive surgery to remove not one, but two nasty Tumours and was faced with losing all of her hair- which for any person is a huge loss of identity and an unimaginably traumatic ordeal. Made harder when having to explain the hair loss to her two innocent children.
Although the Tumours Beth had, had shrunk in size following surgery, this was just the beginning of her ordeal. She was later faced with further implications when she was told there was a 25% chance of the cancer returning. As a Result of this, Beth then went through a gruelling double Mastectomy to try and eliminate the risk of the cancer returning. This Surgery took Beth away from her two doting children and Husband, once again. As she battled sleepless nights away from her Husband and children.
Two weeks after Beth returned home from her mastectomy, she was struck with a nasty cold which quickly developed into Flu. Not a great end to the year and a lot to contend with over Christmas. This resulted in Beth being in a great deal of pain and being placed on numerous painkillers . Beth’s husband had become the families full time carer at this point and into the New Year, when we were all struck with a pandemic, Beth was hospitalised once more. Beths Oxygen levels had dropped dramatically following a nasty cough, which during the process of the pandemic automatically put her in the potential Covid 19 bracket. Beth, who was already vulnerable was placed on a ward with patients potentially carrying the virus.
It turns out, after two tests it wasn’t the virus but Pneumonia. If that wasn’t enough. Soon after recovering from this, Beth was informed that the Cancer had returned and this time has spread to her hips, spine, liver and lungs. As a result, Beth is now undergoing more Excruciating Chemotherapy, which not only takes a huge physical toll on the Human body but is also incredibly draining on a persons mentality. Which goes without saying.
This year, I believe, we can make a dream come true for the Warrior that is Beth, as well as put a huge smile on the Pitt-Roche families faces. The money we raise is for Beth, Nick, Eden and Indie to buy a family puppy, to act as a therapy dog for both the children and Nick. This is something Beth would love and my God she deserves it. They all do! Find out more by following Beth’s YouTube channel.
